Wheelchair Ramps - Portable and Home Use for Stairs and Thresholds
Home modification for wheelchair use does not have to include major construction! Shop our large variety of aluminum wheelchair ramps for home use to remove thresholds and safely make stairs accessible again (accommodates up to approximately 3 stairs). We also carry portable wheelchair ramps that can be used for cars, trucks, vans, and other vehicles or for temporary use at other locations.
You will need to follow the manufacturer's incline chart (including in each product description) when choosing the appropriate wheelchair or threshold ramp for your measurements. In general, for residential use, the ADA recommends a 2:12 slope which means every 2" of vertical rise requires one foot of ramp (9.5 degrees of incline). Measure the rise from the ground to where the ramp will sit on the vehicle, stairs or threshold. This measurement equals the length of ramp needed in feet. (Eg. 24 inches of rise requires a 12 foot ramp minimum (12 divided by 2). Please note that businesses are required 1" of vertical rise per one foot of ramp (5 degrees of incline).
