He formed a group in 1934 with Bob Nolan and Tim Spencer called "Sons of the Pioneers," during which he tried Dick Weston as a stage name before settling on Roy Rogers. In 1937, Rogers went solo and began starring in films a year later. He got his famous horse Trigger in 1938 and rode him in every one of his films and TV shows from the on.
